The AISHE Report: Institutional Network Of Higher Education

India's AISHE 2023–24 report registered 1,289 universities, 48,246 colleges and 15,221 stand-alone institutions. The data show that 70% of colleges are privately managed and unaided. Despite higher education's expansion, institutional distribution remains uneven, with major differences in college density and availability across states and districts.
