Shatabdi engine wheels slip on wet rails; emergency brakes were applied to avoid hitting cattle on track; Railways replaces engine after it suffers heavy damge

New Delhi-Chandigarh Shatabdi Express suffered a wheel skid on wet rails on July 13 after the loco pilot applied emergency brakes to avoid cattle near Sonipat. The locomotive was damaged and had to be replaced. The Railway Board has now asked RDSO to investigate and issue corrective guidelines.
