Donald Trump’s surprise claim of an immediate Russia-Ukraine “energy ceasefire” was thrown into doubt within hours after Kyiv reported fresh Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, including a strike on a major heating and power facility in Kharkiv. Trump had announced that both Russia and Ukraine had agreed to stop hitting each other’s energy infrastructure “effective immediately,” adding: “Do not break it!” But Moscow did not immediately confirm the deal, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kyiv was still waiting for details from Washington.
