Pope Leo Confirms Major Latin America Trip After Lung Surgery And Cancer Discovery

Pope Leo XIV will embark on an 11-day Latin America tour starting November 6, the Vatican has confirmed. The trip comes after the Pope underwent lung surgery on October 13, with doctors reportedly discovering lung cancer. Despite concerns over long flights and high altitudes, Pope Leo is preparing to visit Uruguay, Argentina and Peru.

The pontiff spent around 20 years in Peru and holds Peruvian citizenship. He will skip an inter-religious peace prayer in Assisi.
