Mumbai Water Crisis: BMC Explores Advanced Leak Detection Technology Amid 10 Per Cent Cut

Mumbai is facing a 10% water cut, with around 700 million litres reportedly lost daily to leakages. The BMC is exploring advanced detection equipment to identify leaks and reduce wastage. From January to August 2026, it recorded 17,906 leakage complaints and 4,090 unauthorised connections, while demand exceeded supply by 500 million litres daily.
