Ladakh unveils snow leopard safari

Leh, Oct 8: With Ladakh home to nearly two-thirds of India’s estimated snow leopard population, the Union Territory has launched the country’s first high-altitude wildlife safari, seeking to turn its extraordinary biodiversity into a platform for conservation, responsible tourism and livelihood generation. Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena flagged off six specially designed open-back vehicles for the Ladakh Snow Leopard Safari during Wildlife Week 2026 celebrations in Leh.
