The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract worth ₹1,543 crore with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), Hyderabad, for the acquisition of Varunastra Heavy Weight Torpedoes (HWTs) for the Indian Navy. The agreement was signed in New Delhi in the presence of Additional Secretary and Director General (Acquisition) A. Anbarasu, marking a significant step in strengthening India's underwater warfare
