Health Education: The Missing Prescription

Healthcare does not begin at the hospital gate. It begins much earlier—with awareness, informed choices and the ability to recognise danger before a manageable condition becomes a crisis. Yet health education remains one of the weakest links in Jammu and Kashmir’s public health system.

The region has expanded its network of hospitals, primary health centres and medical colleges. But infrastructure alone cannot produce a healthy population. A community that does not understand preventive care will continue to arrive at hospitals only after illness has advanced.
