GMCH Performs Assam's First Government-Sector Liver Transplant; 16th Medical College To Open Soon
Assam’s GMCH has performed its first liver transplant, transferring part of a 40-year-old woman’s liver to her 48-year-old sister. Both remain in ICU. Health Minister Ashok Singhal also said Biswanath Medical College would open soon, as the state expands medical infrastructure and steps up efforts to reduce maternal and infant mortality.
