Wong stan acs 2021
Stanislaus S. Wong, Professor, Chemistry

The American Chemical Society (ACS) has named Stanislaus S. Wong, PhD, a distinguished professor within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Chemistry, to the 2021 class of ACS Fellows, which incorporates scientists who’ve demonstrated excellent accomplishments in chemistry and have made necessary contributions to ACS, the world’s largest scientific society.

Wong’s analysis has targeted on two principal areas, specifically, nanotube chemistry and nanostructure synthesis, whereby advances are anticipated to broaden the potential impression and sensible applicability of nanostructures. He was elected to the ACS 2021 class based mostly on his distinguished contributions to carbon nanotube chemistry; the sustainable synthesis and characterization of novel nanoscale formulations of scientifically related oxide-based nanostructures; and the rational tailoring of nanomaterials for power purposes.

A Fellow of the American Affiliation for the Development of Science, the Royal Society of Chemistry, and the Nationwide Academy of Inventors, Wong has obtained the ACS Inorganic Nanoscience Award, an Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship, the ACS Buck-Whitney Award, and a Nationwide Science Basis CAREER Award. In 2018, SUNY granted him the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Inventive Actions, and in 2019, he was named a SUNY Distinguished Professor.

Wong has made important contributions to the ACS group, together with programming contributions to quite a few divisions. He has been a co-organizer of 18 main nationwide symposia and an Editorial Advisory Board member to numerous ACS journals. Amongst his prior roles, he has beforehand served within the capability of Nanoscience Chair and Nanoscience Programming Chair for the ACS Inorganic Division. Wong is at present a member of the Programming Committee and the Government Committee for the ACS Power and Fuels Division.

The ACS Fellows Program was created by the ACS Board of Administrators in December 2008 to acknowledge members of ACS for excellent achievements in and contributions to science, the career and the Society.

The official listing of names seems within the August 2 situation of Chemical & Engineering News.

The American Chemical Society, the world’s largest scientific society, is a not-for-profit group chartered by the U.S. Congress. ACS is a world chief in offering entry to chemistry-related data and analysis by means of its a number of databases, peer-reviewed journals and scientific conferences.
